White beaked dolphins frequent the North Atlantic from Cape Cod to the Labrador Sea and Davis Strait. This is the first dolphin that we encounter in the spring around our islands. It feeds mainly on cod, herring, whiting, squid and cuttlefish.
It is a strong animal that sometimes springs out of the water an often rid the bow wave of boats.
As the white-sided dolphin, it is often associated with fin whales to capture its food.
It can form huge flocks, up to 1500 individuals, however, they are observed more frequently in small groups of several dozen individuals.
