This is the most common whale in our waters, frequently observed from May to November. It is distinguished from other species by its size and behavior. His black back and hooked dorsal fin appear briefly on the surface of the water. There is a conspicuous white band on each flipper, easily visible in clear water. It inhabits all oceans but it is particularly common in coastal areas and estuaries. Rather lonely it travel sometimes in groups of two or three individuals. It is a fast swimmer (20 to 30 km/h).
